About Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a physical manual therapy, which: –

  • may provide relief from pain and discomfort from a variety of physical medical problems
  • is a recognised medical speciality of diagnosis and treatment, which is both safe and effective
  • aims at a holistic approach to Health and Wellbeing
  • identifies problem areas and treats the underlying cause as well as the symptoms
  • understands the self-regulating and self-healing systems of the human body
  • aims to give nature a helping hand to aid the healing processes within the human body

Osteopathy recognises that pain and disability stems from abnormalities in the structure of the body, which then affects the proper function of that body.

The following are some of the causes, which you will be able to recognise, which can affect our structure of our body (in other words, you can feel pain or discomfort due to the following circumstances which will affect your body and also your mind): –

  • poor posture (at work, rest or play)
  • injury (accident, fall, bad lifting, sports injury)
  • repetitive strain (from work, sport)
  • trauma (physical and emotional)
  • general illness
  • as part of normal ageing processes
  • damage to the body by disease

The BENEFITS of Osteopathic Treatment may include: –

  • pain relief, reduced discomfort
  • improved movement, flexibility, mobility
  • increased energy
  • a sense of well-being (as reported by some patients)
  • reduced stress levels
